ASSISTANT OF THE METROPOLIS OF BELGIUM

BIOGRAPHY :

His Grace Bishop Maximos of Evmenia, (in the world Ioannis Mastichis)  was born on the 30th September 1935 in Stylis (Greece). In 1958 he successfully graduates with a Master degree in Theology at the Theological Institute of Halki (Turkey). On 7 September 1958 he was ordained deacon by Metropolitan Maximos of Stavroupolis, who gave him his name. The same metropolitan ordained him as priest on 8 September 1958. He serves since 1958 in the Netherlands.  He was promoted as archimandrite. In 1977 he was unanimously elected by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople auxiliary bishop of the Metropolitan of Belgium with the high title of “Bishop of Evmenia”. He is ordination took place in Rotterdam on 11 December 1977.  Since 1991 Bishop Maximos resides in Brussels.
